Notepad++ Horizontal Ruler Plugin

**Update 3/24/17**

I want to say thank you to Jeffery Grossman who took the time to import code and translate it.

Direct Download to English Version: https://github.com/jmgrossma/freeftys/blob/master/secondary/NppHorizontalRuler/NppHorizontalRuler.dll?raw=true

Drop this .dll into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins\ folder and restart NPP.  Note that the x64 version won’t even have a plugin manager.  See below for more info on that.

I’ve tested it and confirmed it works.

**Update 2/27/17**

This took me a little bit of digging to find but after a lot of searching – this ruler plugin came up in my search.  The page is in Japanese, so run it through google translate or use the download link here:

http://freesftys.lv9.org/app/npp/#npp-HorizontalRuler

Direct download link: http://freesftys.lv9.org/app/npp/soft/NppHorizontalRuler-0.1.6.zip

INSTALLATION:

Extract and install NppHorizontalRuler.dll here:

Note: This plugin will not work with Npp x64 – The official website specifically says “most of plugins (including Plugin Manager) are not yet available in x64“.

Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins\

Restart Notepad++ and it will appear in the Plugins Menu.  Select “RulerToggle” or “RulerVisible” and it will be enabled.
nppruler1

Once installed, it will look like this:

nppruler

Options Dialog:

nppruler3

How to fix OneDrive sync issues with office files on Windows 7

  • Windows 7
  • Office 2013
  • OneDrive 2015

Issue:

When opening office documents and closing them without saving, OneDrive system tray icon will prompt me with messages stating “An office file needs your attention“.

Solution:

I was forced to open the file, save it, and close it which then kicked off the sync.  This would make the error go away but it would reoccur everytime I opened and closed a document.
OneDrive Settings
To resolve the issue, I unchecked (disabled) “Use Office to work on files with other people at the same time” in the OneDrive settings.
It now works more like dropbox where you save the file and it just syncs it up to the cloud. I don’t use the collaboration features so no issue for me to disable it.
